Prayer

“He shall call upon me and I will answer him.

I will be with him in trouble, I

will deliver him and honor him.” ~ Psalm 91:15

As I researched the topic of prayer for this blog, I was reminded of this loving promise of God written in the book of Psalm. This is a message written to all but today I would like to use it to focus on women.

Ladies, God wants us to PRAY! Not only does He want us to bring Him our troubles; He wants us to bring Him our praise, our joys, our plans, our dreams, our needs and our desires - as well as our fears! We can also pray for others in our circles and outside. Family, friends, church family and others near and far. He hears us! He not only hears us, He says He will deliver us and honor us! How great is His love for us!

Calling on Him can be a simple "Help me Lord" when we feel overwhelmed or afraid or a heartfelt "Thank you God". We live in a stressful world and sometimes this is all we can muster!

No matter what is going on in our lives, God hears us and will help us! A good way to pray, when we are having a hard time finding words, is to pray the Scriptures! When I am having a hard time falling asleep at night, I will pray Psalm 23. This can really help me find peace. Psalm 61:1-3 says, “Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to You. I call as my heart grows faint; Lead me to a rock that is higher than I.”

A good way to pray, when we are having a hard time finding words, is to pray the Scriptures!

A song can also be a prayer. The old hymn, “It is Well With My Soul", illustrates this perfectly when it says, "Whatever my lot, it is well, it is well with my soul." Praying or singing out loud can be very powerful.

We can use Scripture and song to pray for others as well. Some tend to be afraid

of praying aloud for others. I used to be afraid but as I practiced and leaned on

God to bring me the words, I felt a very deep deep connection with God as well

as the person/people I was praying for. I felt sure God heard me and delivered and honored both myself and the person being prayed for. This is a great way to serve

people. Try it! God will bless you!

“Heavenly Father, You care for us and want to be in a relationship with us. Help us to focus on You for all of our days. Help us to talk to You in prayer. Be with us, deliver and honor us.

In Jesus name I pray. Amen.”
